The idea of making a prayer journal came to me one day when I was praying, ironic enough. It occurred to me that I was praying the same prayer time after time, and most of my thanksgivings and requests were general and vague. As bad as that made me feel, it was incredibly reassuring to be reminded that “my Father knows what I need before I ask him” (Matthew 6:8).
There was a time not long ago when my morning looked a little something like this…
Crying—it’s my human alarm clock and it’s time to get out of bed NOW.
That crying wakes up at least one more kid, but most likely everyone is awake as I stumble to the bathroom to put in my contacts (my only “getting ready” I do for the day…). From the moment I get out of bed, it’s a constant struggle to survive the day. Goal: To make it all the way to bedtime without too many tears, tantrums or traumas.
We pray every night with our kids, but praying as a couple is something that we almost never do. It’s something we have always wanted to do, and know is an important part of our marriage as we grow and develop our relationships with God and each other. Continue reading
